Keep a roof over Vasile's head in Iași

A divorce left Vasile short on rent for 5 months; help us stay in our home.

After a sudden layoff at the call centre, Vasile fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,200. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, the family must leave. There are 1 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Vasile has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $1,200 goes: • Late fees and court costs: $115 • First month of rent as a buffer: $400 • Rent arrears (5 months): $685 Every share and every dollar helps. - Mihai

Thinking of you, Mihai. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
