A sudden layoff left Łukasz short on rent for 4 months; help us stay in our home.

After a car accident that kept me from work for 8 weeks, Łukasz fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Friday a final eviction notice was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,400.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, the family must leave.
There are two young children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Łukasz has started working two part-time jobs, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
