Following a long illness in the family, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Friday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,900. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave. I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $2,900 goes: • First month of rent as a buffer: $890 • Late fees and court costs: $100 • Rent arrears (5 months): $1,910 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Zoe MarquezQuestion

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Paisley.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. first month of rent as a buffer comes first ($890) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
