Keep a roof over Leila's head in Salé
A sudden layoff left Leila short on rent for 2 months; help us stay in our home.
Anywhere in the world720 views
When the call centre closed in August, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a termination letter was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $800.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $800 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $480
• Late fees and court costs: $45
• Utilities in arrears: $35
• First month of rent as a buffer: $240
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Hope it all works out, Leila. Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings
wishing you the best, Leila. Shared this with my family. After 13 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Salé
Thank you. If you're in Salé I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. I'll keep the page updated.
Praying for you, Leila. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Badagry
Hope it all works out, Leila. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best
thinking of you. Your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Salé
