After a car accident that kept me from work for 7 weeks, Fernando fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Friday a final eviction notice was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $700. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by May, the family must leave. There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
