Keep a roof over Bianca's head in Feira de Santana
A sudden layoff left Bianca short on rent for 5 months; help us stay in our home.
Anywhere in the world978 views
After a sudden layoff at the packaging plant, Bianca fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $300.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by May, the family must leave.
There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Bianca has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $300 goes:
• Late fees and court costs: $85
• First month of rent as a buffer: $165
• Utilities in arrears: $50
Glad we found this place.

Thank you all. We're at 7% now ($20). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward first month of rent as a buffer.
