Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Emery's work-permit appeal
Help Emery cover the fees of a work-permit appeal so She can stay with her family.
🇺🇸 United States573 views
Emery is facing a work-permit appeal. The hearing is scheduled for January, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $4,300. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Emery has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Dallas Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Emery could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $4,300 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $3,450
• Filing and biometrics fees: $590
• Certified translations and document copies: $95
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $165
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
