We're short of hands for the Refugee Welcome Picnic; can you spare a morning?

Every year the Refugee Welcome Picnic brings together 259 neighbors in Fresno. I help organize it with 9 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for stewarding, first-aid support and clean-up. Shifts are two to three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a family-friendly day, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. Glad we found this place.

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Fresno.

      • Best of luck, Joshua. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Sent it to 22 people at work. All the best.

        • Best of luck, Joshua. Shared it with a few friends. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Fresno.

          • I hope things turn around soon. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

            • Shared it with a few friends. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day
