We are short of hands for the Free Community Meal; can you spare a morning?

Every year the Free Community Meal brings together 345 neighbors in Newcastle. I help organize it with 12 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for set-up, serving, translation and clean-up. Shifts are three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a family-friendly day, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • thinking of you, Oliver. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from San Miguel de Tucumán

    • wishing you peace. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'll check back for the next update

      • Thinking of you, Oliver. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 25 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.

        • So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Gqeberha.

          • stay strong, Oliver. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Greetings from Santa Fe
