Joaquín is ninety days into recovery and looking for a guide

A weekly call with someone who has been through it - that's the whole ask.

I'm ninety days into recovery from alcohol dependence. I attend meetings and see a counselor, but the weeks between meetings are the hardest. I'd love a mentor - someone who has a year or more of recovery and who would be willing to talk once a week. I'm not looking for a replacement for treatment. I'm looking for someone who understands what a bad Tuesday night feels like. I'd prefer someone who's happy to do video calls. Any country is fine. I'll be respectful of your time and boundaries, and happy to pay it forward later. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Wishing you the best, Joaquín. Wishing Joaquín a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in Lagos this morning. Love from Lagos.

      • Sending good thoughts, Joaquín. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick.

        • Hang in there. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Kasarani

          • Keep going, Joaquín. Hope this works out for you. Sent it to 22 people at work. Blessings!

            • Take care, Joaquín. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Iztapalapa.
