Jacob needs a lift to the San Diego Kidney Centre - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the San Diego Kidney Centre would keep Jacob on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Jacob has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the San Diego Kidney Centre alone. After surgery on their hand, Jacob can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 15 km each way. Jacob is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Wishing you peace, Hadley. This could happen to any of us. After 20 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything!

    • Best of luck, Hadley. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care!
