I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Ann Arbor Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a specialist standing frame. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,250.
My current equipment is 13 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around him. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $260
• specialist standing frame: $1,700
• First-year servicing plan: $290
