Independence for Annelies: stair-climbing aid

A stair-climbing aid would give Annelies independence - we're $5,900 away.

Utrecht
Annelies lives with multiple sclerosis. The occupational therapist at the Utrecht Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $5,900. Her current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 6 weeks. With the right equipment Annelies could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $5,900 goes: • First-year servicing plan: $310 • stair-climbing aid: $5,500 • Delivery and set-up: $90 Glad we found this place. - Bram

  • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.

    • Best of luck, Bram. This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Utrecht.
