Hurricane in San Francisco: help the Hillcrest district rebuild
After the hurricane, families in the Hillcrest district need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇺🇸 United States1,403 views
The hurricane hit the Hillcrest district on 30 August. My home was one of 41 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $910
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,300
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,090

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jing
Sure. The biggest one is food parcels for displaced families, $910. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for asking.
hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.
how is Jing doing now?
You're not alone, Jing. More neighborhoods should do this
hope it all works out, Jing. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
Rooting for you. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best
Hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings.
