Hurricane in Corpus Christi: help Hillcrest village rebuild
After the hurricane, families in Hillcrest village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
Anywhere in the world2,071 views
The hurricane hit Hillcrest village on 3 September. My home was one of 39 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $4,500 goes:
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $960
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,050
• Clean water and purification supplies: $550
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,940
Every share and every dollar helps.

Praying for you, Mei. Hope you get there. Thinking of Corpus Christi
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mei
Bedding, blankets and mattresses is $960 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for looking so closely.
Thinking of you. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Corpus Christi
Best of luck, Mei. More neighborhoods should do this. After 15 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Tlaquepaque.
Thanks for sharing this, Mei. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care.
Praying for you, Mei. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Blessings
