Hugo needs a lift to the Mobile Kidney Centre - can you help one day a week?
Could you drive Hugo to the Mobile Kidney Centre on Monday? A rota of 6 drivers is forming.
🇺🇸 Mobile, Alabama, United States1,568 views
Hugo has been on dialysis for 4 years and until recently drove to the Mobile Kidney Centre alone. After a foot amputation, Hugo can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 28 km each way.
Hugo is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
- effort
- one weekly trip
- format
- In person in Mobile
- skills
- reliable car, clean driving record

So sorry you're going through this, Gerardo. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Sent it to 14 people at work.
You're not alone. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
Hang in there. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Athens donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Mobile.

Hope it all works out, Gerardo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Praying for you, Gerardo. Wishing Hugo a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I'll check back for the next update
