Howard can't leave home - help build a ramp

Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Los Angeles.

Howard has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Howard can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Howard's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

So sorry you're going through this, Sharon. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Los Angeles.

    • Thinking of you, Sharon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Odesa

      • so sorry you're going through this. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best
