Hip replacement surgery for Teun: covering what insurance won't
Teun needs hip replacement surgery at Nijmegen Orthopedic Institute and the family is $3,750 short of the hospital's estimate.

Teun was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in July. The surgeon at Nijmegen Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,700, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $3,750 short.
my son has been in and out of Nijmegen Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Teun struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Teun won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. pre-operative tests and imaging comes first ($330) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for looking so closely.
