Hip replacement surgery for Hannah: covering what insurance won't
After a hip fracture that never healed properly, Hannah was cleared for hip replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In August I was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly. My surgeon at Dallas Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $9,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $4,700 short.
Doctors at Dallas Regional Medical Center told me a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $9,500 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
