Rodrigo was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June. The oncology team at St. Louis Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Rodrigo is 51, worked as a nurse until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to St. Louis Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Transport to St. Louis Cancer Centre: $790
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,700
• Scans and lab work: $1,050
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $460
