Help Osamu patch the roof before the monsoon
Could you spare three weekday mornings to help repair a leaking roof in Tokyo?
🇯🇵 Tokyo, Japan1,157 views
I'm a school janitor living in Tokyo. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 4 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $2,250, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for a small crew who can help over three weekday mornings.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

a secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. My neighbor in Birmingham donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Tokyo.
hope things get better soon, Osamu. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Wishing you the best. Hope this works out for you. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Sending love. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. Greetings from Hanoi.
