Help Nahid patch the roof before winter
Nahid, a home-care aide, needs a few skilled and unskilled helpers for a 2-weekend roof repair in Dhaka.

I'm a home-care aide living in Dhaka. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 2 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $690, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for three or four volunteers who can help over three weekday mornings.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
Thank you so much.

hope it all works out, Nahid. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Hang in there, Nahid. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Take care.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. I hope January is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Dhaka.

thinking of you and your family, Nahid. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 38 people at work. Take care
This could happen to any of us. Put this on a community board in Pune this morning. Greetings from Pune.
