Masaru is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a degree in civil engineering at Kyoto Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,100. The registrar has said Masaru can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Masaru has a 3.9 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Masaru would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Masaru isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Kyoto Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $4,100 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,650 • Final term tuition: $2,250 • Exam and lab fees: $55 • Textbooks and materials: $145 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Mai
