I'm a night-shift nurse living in Fresno. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 3 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $2,050, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the roofing sheets and nails. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for three or four volunteers who can help over a weekend. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • You're not alone. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. My husband and I read this together. Take care.

Hope it all works out, Marisol. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Nagpur.

      • A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Soweto.
