Palermo
For six years I have run a roadside café in Palermo. In July, a fire in the building took an espresso machine and grinder. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 4 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $2,700 goes: • Replacing an espresso machine and grinder: $1,450 • Initial stock: coffee and pastries: $530 • Shop repairs and licensing: $480 • Working capital for the first month: $240 Every share and every dollar helps. - Maksym

  1. We're at 19% thanks to 20 of you. I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. More news soon.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($377 in total) I made the first payment toward shop repairs and licensing. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Keep going, Maksym. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
