Lourdes was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in June. The surgeon at La Plata University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,950, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $2,200 short.
my wife has been in and out of La Plata University Hospital since June. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,950 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lourdes struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Lourdes won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
