Help Kavitha patch the roof before the autumn rains
Could you spare two Saturdays to help repair a leaking roof in Mumbai?
🇮🇳 Maharashtra, India1,167 views
I'm a single mother of three living in Mumbai. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 3 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $940, which isn't something I can pay.
The good news: a local hardware store has donated the shingles and underlay. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for a small crew who can help over two Saturdays.
Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is work boots and a hat. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks.
The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Sending strength, Kavitha. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 19 years in engineering I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Blessings

Rooting for you. This could happen to any of us. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Lagos.
A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Blessings
You're not alone, Kavitha. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
Best of luck, Kavitha. Your post was clear and honest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Mumbai
Thanks for sharing this. It takes guts to ask. Well done. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Blessings.
