Ishrat was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in October. The surgeon at Mumbai Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $500 short. my daughter has been in and out of Mumbai Orthopedic Institute since October. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ishrat struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Ishrat won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $500 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $65 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $370 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $65 Glad we found this place. - Ayesha
