A first-generation student, Hellen needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of an agriculture degree.

Hellen is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an agriculture degree at Kinondoni State College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $150.
The registrar has said Hellen can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Hellen has a first-class average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Hellen would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Hellen isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Kinondoni State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $150 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $25
• Exam and lab fees: $10
• Outstanding tuition balance: $115

Hope it all works out. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. I hope August is when things finally get easier
is there anything that isn't money that would help Hellen?
looking forward to the next update. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
Good luck with the exams, you've got this. We're a small family in Johannesburg but we're thinking of you.
Thinking of you and your family, Akinyi. Shared this with my family. Sent it to 27 people at work. Take care.
Good luck, Akinyi. Your post was clear and honest. Love from Johannesburg.
