Fikir was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Jimma Orthopedic Institute recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $650 short.
my wife has been in and out of Jimma Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Fikir struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Fikir won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
