12 rounds of treatment are planned at Accra Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

Ernestina was diagnosed with cervical cancer in April. The oncology team at Accra Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Ernestina is 31, worked as a shop owner until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Accra Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,200 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $940 • Scans and lab work: $130 • Household costs while unable to work: $130 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Kwaku

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ernestina

    • Chemotherapy and medication not covered is $940 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.

  • Sending strength. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My husband and I read this together. All the best

    • Wishing you peace. This could happen to any of us. I'll check back for the next update. Greetings from Xalapa.
