Emily was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,550, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,100 short.
my wife has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,550 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Emily struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Emily won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
