Brenda is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at Augusta State College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $6,500.
The registrar has said Brenda can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Brenda has a distinction average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Brenda would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Brenda isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Augusta State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $6,500 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $3,250
• Final term tuition: $2,700
• Exam and lab fees: $230
• Textbooks and materials: $320
