Beatriz was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in July. The oncology team at Phoenix Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Beatriz is 57, worked as a farmer until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Phoenix Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $6,950 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $690 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,400 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,100 • Scans and lab work: $1,760 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
