Héctor is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an electrical engineering diploma at San Sebastián State College, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,350.
The registrar has said Héctor can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Héctor has a first-class average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Héctor would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Héctor isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
