I'm Umar, 17, in Grade 12. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study journalism.
I have a 3.9 average, I volunteer at my mosque and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work.
I'm looking for an hour a week until August. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request.
Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thinking of you and your family. Shared this with my family. Sent it to 36 people at work. Thinking of Bandung.
Praying for you, Umar. Hope this works out for you!
Keep going. I hope things turn around soon. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. God bless.
sending strength, Umar. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Thessaloniki
