I'm Ruth, 16, in Year 12. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study civil engineering. I have a distinction average, I volunteer at an after-school program and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work. I'm looking for an hour a week until September. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request. Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask. Thank you so much.

  • Stay strong, Ruth. Hope you get there. I'll check back for the next update. Take care.

    • Praying for you. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

      • As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.

        • hang in there, Ruth. Your post was clear and honest. Love from Thane
