I'm Aisha, 18, in Year 12. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study public health. I have a top-of-class average, I volunteer at a food pantry and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work. I'm looking for an hour a week until April. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request. Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Nairobi.

    • Keep going, Aisha. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 16 people at work. Thinking of Gwagwalada.

      • Thanks for sharing this, Aisha. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out.

        • Thinking of you and your family, Aisha. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. After 6 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from London.

          • Looking forward to the next update. Love from Maringá.

            • Sending good thoughts, Aisha. Shared this with my family. After 9 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings
