I live with multiple sclerosis. My occupational therapist at the San Jose Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,000.
My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 3 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• pair of hearing aids: $2,350
• Fitting and training sessions: $270
• Delivery and set-up: $125
• First-year servicing plan: $255
