Jimma
I make my living with my delivery van. 6 weeks ago the engine head gasket failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $250. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked eleven hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next four months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $250 goes: • engine head gasket replacement (parts): $165 • Labor charges: $40 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $40 • Towing and inspection: $5 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

  • Rooting for you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Jimma.

    • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Zewditu

Sure. The biggest one is engine head gasket replacement (parts), $165. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.

    • stay strong, Zewditu. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.

      • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in San Diego donated after I showed her your page. God bless

        • take care, Zewditu. Hope this works out for you.

          • Hang in there, Zewditu. I hope things turn around soon. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too
