Friendly visitor needed for an 85-year-old neighbor in Dar es Salaam

Mwanaisha lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Mwanaisha, who's 85. Mwanaisha lives alone in Dar es Salaam, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives a long flight away. Mwanaisha loves cricket, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

praying for you, Grace. It takes guts to ask. Well done. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Dar es Salaam.

        • You're not alone, Grace. Wishing Mwanaisha a smooth procedure and a full recovery. All the best

          • Sending love, Grace. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. After 26 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless.

            • reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in San Jose but we're thinking of you. Blessings.

              • Hope things get better soon. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Blessings.

Thinking of you and your family, Grace. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
