Friendly visitor needed for an 83-year-old neighbor in Lafayette
An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Álvaro is asking for.
🇺🇸 Lafayette, Louisiana, United States320 views
I'm writing for my neighbor Álvaro, who's 83. Álvaro lives alone in Lafayette, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives several hours away.
Álvaro loves chess, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Sunday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Wishing Álvaro a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Thinking of Lafayette.
Praying for you. Wishing Álvaro a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I'll check back for the next update. Take care.
Thinking of you, Beatriz. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.
