Friendly visitor needed for a 76-year-old neighbor in Johannesburg

I'm writing for my neighbor Mbali, who's 76. Mbali lives alone in Johannesburg, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives 275 kilometers away. Mbali loves opera, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
