Flood in Thủ Đức: help the Hillcrest neighborhood rebuild

The flood damaged 26 homes in the Hillcrest neighborhood. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

Thủ Đức
The flood hit the Hillcrest neighborhood on 24 November. My home was one of 26 damaged, and 10 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $700 goes: • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $125 • Food parcels for displaced families: $280 • Tools and labor for repairs: $295 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Long

Updates from Long

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 6% funded and I made the first payment toward bedding, blankets and mattresses.

  2. Update from Thủ Đức: I made the first payment toward tools and labor for repairs. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($20 in total) the plan for food parcels for displaced families is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
