Flash flood in Durham: help the Sunrise neighborhood rebuild
After the flash flood, families in the Sunrise neighborhood need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇺🇸 Durham, North Carolina, United States8,757 views
The flash flood hit the Sunrise neighborhood on 29 April. My home was one of 31 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $7,250 goes:
• Clean water and purification supplies: $790
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $720
• Roofing sheets and timber: $3,650
• Tools and labor for repairs: $2,090
With deep gratitude,
Eli

good luck, Eli. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
Looking forward to the next update. Sent it to 6 people at work.
