Cairo
Rasha was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in November. The oncology team at Cairo University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in February. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Rasha is 35, worked as a hairdresser until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Cairo University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,350 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $170 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $890 • Scans and lab work: $195 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $95 Thanks for being kind about this.

Updates from Zaid

  1. Quick update: $497 raised so far (37%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 25% now ($342). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team.

    • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Rasha?

      • Thank you. If you're in Cairo I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for looking so closely.

        • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rasha.

          • Household costs while unable to work is $170 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page.
