In October I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at Los Angeles Regional Medical Center has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in January. I was told to expect about 5 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 25, I worked as a hairdresser until October, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Los Angeles Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $6,500 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $1,500 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,700 • Scans and lab work: $800 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $500 Thank you for reading my story. - Wesley
