In May I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at Glasgow Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in July. I was told to expect about 8 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 54, I worked as a taxi driver until May, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Glasgow Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,550 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $350 • Scans and lab work: $1,400 • Transport to Glasgow Cancer Centre: $800 Glad we found this place.
