Shoaib is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Multan
Shoaib was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February. The oncology team at Multan University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in May. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Shoaib is 55, worked as a hairdresser until February, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Multan University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $900 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $55 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $460 • Transport to Multan University Hospital: $90 • Household costs while unable to work: $295 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Shoaib

  • Wishing you the best, Shoaib. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Wish I lived closer to Bowling Green so I could bring a meal. Take care.

    • hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Love from Toronto.

      • Praying for you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 30 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

        • thinking of you, Shoaib. Your post was clear and honest. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Multan.

          • Rooting for you, Shoaib. Shared this with my family
