Patrícia was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in December. The oncology team at the Rio de Janeiro Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in March. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Patrícia is 58, worked as a bus conductor until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Rio de Janeiro Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $3,850 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,300 • Scans and lab work: $460 • Transport to the Rio de Janeiro Oncology Institute: $400 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $130 • Household costs while unable to work: $560 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
